You will be provided with detailed instructions, however if you do have any problems simply call us on 020 8363 8178 or e-mail us at info@tinytrinkets.co.uk and we will help you with your problem. Alternatively you can e-mail or telephone us with your order and pay by cheque or postal order made payable to Tiny Trinkets. Please note if paying by cheque your impressions kit will be sent out in 5-7 working days.
Q: How old does my baby have to be?
A: There is no age limit! The wonderful thing about fingerprints is that they really are unique to the individual. Some newborn babies have very defined fingerprint whirls whilst some older children may have less definition. Occasionally with very young babies the best we can get is a little dimple! Unless you state on the order form to the contrary we will go ahead with your order. Whilst it is nice to have lots of definition it is your child's individual impression that makes this jewellery such a personal and treasured keepsake.
Also, please don't forget the adults! Fingerprint jewellery is a great way to mark an anniversary or occasion, or to give as a token of love and affection.
Q: Are the products sterling silver?
A: No, all of our jewellery is is pure .999 silver. This means that it is 99% silver unlike 925 sterling silver which is 92.5% silver, the rest being other alloys mostly copper. We use sterling silver fittings for example our cufflink arms and all of our chains and bracelets are sterling silver. Where applicable, items are hallmarked at Birmingham Assay Office.
Q: Is your jewellery handmade?
A: Absolutely! each piece is totally hand crafted from beginning to end, no machinery is used in the process at all. Unlike most commercial silver jewellery each piece is custom crafted, commissioned artwork and will reflect their handcrafted quality. You can be certain that your jewellery is bespoke and totally unique to you/your child.
Q: How long will it take before I receive my items?
A: Within 3-4 weeks from receipt of your returned impressions. This is quite general and can be sooner if we are less busy. Likewise at busy periods i.e. Christmas, Fathers Day it may be slightly longer.
Q: Do you have photographs of all of the charm shapes on your website?
A: Whilst we continue to update our website photographs, we do not currently have photographs of all of the charm shapes. However we have provided illustrations (below) of the various Tiny fingerprint charm shapes.
(Below) Fingerprint necklace's and double and triple descending necklace shapes (Triple heart, flower and teardrop descending necklace shapes)
Q: How do I look after my jewellery?
A: Although fine silver does not tarnish as easily as sterling, all silver does tarnish naturally. You can slow down the rate of tarnishing by:
Keeping silver dry
Removing all silver jewellery before showering or cleaning. Soap in particular can cause a film to form on the silver jewellery which will make it appear dull.
Removing jewellery before swimming as chlorine can permanently damage or discolour silver jewellery. Also avoid wearing silver jewellery whilst using bleach.
Q: How can I clean my jewellery?
A: You can remove light tarnish with washing up liquid and warm water. A soft bristle brush i.e. an old toothbrush can be used to carefully brush your jewellery. After brushing simply rinse with lukewarm water and allow to dry. you can buy impregnated cloths specially made for cleaning silver jewellery. Please do not use a silver dip for any Tiny Trinkets jewellery. Also do not rub the print too vigorously whilst cleaning.
Q: How should I store my jewellery?
A: If you are not wearing your Tiny Trinkets jewellery for a while, it is advisable that you store it in an airtight container with the pink ant-tarnish slip that we send you with your completed order.
Q: Will my fingerprint jewellery scratch or dent?
A: PMC, because of its purity is a relatively soft metal. If an item is worn everyday or hung on a chain with other items or on a keyring, inevitably it will gradually age.
Q: What do you do with my fingerprint impressions?
A: We keep fingerprint impressions for a period of approximately one month and then they are destroyed. If you would like us to hold your prints for longer in the event that you would like a repeat order, please state this on the order form provided with your impressions kit. We are not allowed by law (The Data Protection Act) to store fingerprint impressions, although some companies do.
Q: Can I cancel my order?
A: You can cancel your order anytime up until your item is being made. However, cancellations will incur a £10.00 charge. This covers the cost of us sending your impressions kit etc.
Q: What happens if I do not like my item?
A: We are sure that you will be delighted with our products as we are all very dedicated artists who take a good deal of pride in our work. If there is a problem that is our fault we will attempt to rectify or re-make your item and reimburse any extra postage costs. However, being a small company and by the very nature of the product, if you simply do not like the result we will not be able to offer a refund. We do hope that you understand.
